Sandy East is Cirque’s Director of Avalanche Education. He has an impressive resume detailing 45 years of experience in climbing, skiing, and guiding in the San Juan Mountains, Sandy is a legendary figure in the climbing and ski community with numerous first ascents and descent. He served as the former Director of the International Alpine School, based in Eldorado Springs and Ouray.

Sandy has played a vital role in avalanche forecasting as a mitigation contractor for CDOT, Ouray County, and local mining companies. His extensive alpine climbing background includes summiting numerous peaks across Peru, Canada, Europe, and various locations throughout the United States.

Dedicated to promoting safety and knowledge in the mountains, Sandy has spent a lifetime sharing his mountain craft and passion for outdoor adventures with others. He currently resides in Ridgway, Colorado, where he is ideally located to pursue the activities he loves most.
