This 4-day program focusses on an individualized curriculum to help you excel on your upcoming expedition. Our guides’ worldwide alpine climbing experience will help you both understand the rigors of your intended climb and learn/practice how to safely and efficiently tackle it.

Learn how to approach your climb or expedition beyond the technical & physical preparation and become a competent partner in topics like avalanche safety, logistics, weather, gear and many other important topics the apply to alpine climbing in remote areas.

SAMPLE ITINERARY

This custom program occurs in the San Juan Mountains. The program will start in either the City of Ouray, Durango or Silverton, and depending on the season, venues will include the Ouray Ice Park, Backcountry Ice Routes throughout the San Juan Mountains, Local Alpine Routes on 13ers & 14ers, and single/multi-pitch sport/trad rock routes in the area.

We will start assessing your movement abilities to identify your strengths and areas of improvement, on the medium at hand, whether ice, rock or steep snow. The day will progress according to your abilities, and the goal of the day is to solidify these movement skills.

After the first day of assessment & coaching, we will have a thorough discussion on the next steps for the remainder of the program. A second day can continue to involve movement practice to master your climbing skills on rock or and/or ice, or, depending on your experience, we might start with backcountry or multipitch climbing. Rope, transitions, and anchors are skills that will start implementing from the start and blend into practice everyday.

Ideally, the last 2 days will involve climbing routes that mimic your desired alpine objective. Every morning and evening of your program will have a formal meeting to discuss and learn AM & PM information gathering and recording for decision making, route/time planning, and gear choices.
