Colorado Hut-to-Hut Skiing in the San Juan Mountains.

Experience one of Colorado’s premier hut-to-hut skiing adventures in the heart of the San Juan Mountains. This guided backcountry ski traverse connects the Blue Lakes and Ridgway Huts through remote terrain in the rugged Sneffels Range.

Designed for intermediate to advanced backcountry skiers, the route can be tailored to group ability and snow conditions, from mellow touring and scenic passes to steep glades and technical descents.

SAMPLE ITINERARY

Day One – TH to Blue Lakes Hut

  • Morning gear check and shuttle to the trailhead
  • Enjoy a relaxing approach day and tour deep into the San Juans
  • Settle into Blue Lakes Hut nestled amongst big pines

Day Two – Blue Lakes Hut to Ridgway Hut

  • This is one of the most scenic and rewarding touring days around
  • From the hut we tour above treeline for breath-taking views of Mt. Sneffles.
  • From the ridgeline we cherry pick our descent with one of the iconic 1400’ chutes that drop you directly to the Ridgway hut

Day Three – Ski Tour around Ridgway Hut

  • We boot up after a leisurely breakfast and spend the day finding secret powder stashes
  • You can also tackle this day head on and sink your teeth into some big alpine ski lines within close striking distance from the hut
  • Relax and enjoy a hearty meal and warm fire

Day Four – Ridgway Hut to TH

  • Brew up some coffee and head out for a morning ski tour in this amazing alpine terrain
  • Pack up our gear and enjoy a gravity fed exit to the trailhead
  • Wrap-up with celebration dinner/drinks in Ridgway

3 or 4 day trip.

Group Size
This is a private trip. The huts hold a maximum of 8, including guides. You must reserve the whole hut so it’s just our group.

Departure Time
8:00 a.m.

Meeting Location
We will perform a gear check the day before the trip start date. Please check with us for the meeting location.

Meals/Food
You are responsible for your personal snacks during the trip. We will provide breakfast, appetizers, and dinner.

Equipment List
We can provide Avalanche Safety Equipment (transceiver, probe, shovel).
